Yesterday’s Annual Reward Event with Aon was a huge success, bringing together 140 of Sydney’s leading Reward professionals for lunch.
We kicked things off with an insightful presentation by Matthew van Geest, who shared key Labour Market Insights on the evolving landscape of fixed remuneration in Australia over the past year. He also presented Aon’s research, which surveyed clients about their hiring outlook for the next 12 months. Given the mixed market conditions, it was reassuring to hear that only 5% of organisations anticipate a hiring freeze in the year ahead, while 57% expect hiring to continue as usual.
Next, Yvette O’Reilly shared fascinating insights on the compensation of global Non-Executive Directors. Her analysis revealed that, while many industries maintain consistent pay rates regardless of a director’s country of residence, sectors such as technology, financial services, and mining tend to adjust compensation based on the specific country.
To conclude the event on a fun note, Jairus Ashworth took the floor to host the annual Jobbie Awards! After combing through a staggering 7 million job titles in Aon’s global system, Jairus highlighted some of the most creative and amusing titles from this year. A few crowd favourites included
- Chief Wizard of Chaos Land
- The Ticket Slayer
- The Queen of Shrugging
- Chief Question Asker
And the grand winner: Bath Tester!
A huge thank you to Aon for their continued partnership in making this event possible.
