This week I was fortunate to be invited to the (virtual) Brentnalls National Affiliation Conference. Their guest speaker was Gilbert Enoka who is New Zealand’s leading mental skills coach for the All Blacks.
His insights into the psychology behind the team’s success can also be applied to building mental resilience in the workplace. Gilbert spoke about 5 key points to high performance and that resilience was something that involved behaviours, thoughts and actions which anyone can learn and develop. He explained that a person can be resilient as a child, however, they may not be so later in life, or vice versa.
One of the key takeaways I got from the session was when he described the key was to ‘stay above the line’. This short video clip is a great summary and worth a quick watch.
